Mitchell Hargreaves is interested in cycles of damage and repair. His practice intersects mediums, using textiles and assemblage to investigate themes of contemporary masculinity and identity. Through careful re-contextualisation of found, used materials such as tents, tarps and inflatable mattresses, he transforms these materials through painterly compositions. Hargreaves repurposes sentimental materials, redefining their associations and, in turn, compounding their meanings. This physical reconstruction subtly reveals his internal logic; his practice is a performance of thought, a reappraisal of memory.
