Maddy O’Connor (b. 1999) is an Australian/British artist working in Sydney/Eora.

O’Connor has studied a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at University of the Arts London: Central Saint Martins, and is completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the National Art School in Sydney/Eora.

Primarily working in the field of painting, her work explores themes of childhood, Catholicism, and femininity. In a deliberately naïve fashion, she uses recurring motifs of the Devil and stylised, simple self portraits in combination with text. O’Connor’s use of text looks to replace imagery with the written word, combining the conventions of painting with writing in a diaristic and often humorous way.
