Giacomo’s current practice focuses on the Body as Clay, shaped by its environment, experiences, and the way it’s handled. Their work expresses a curiosity surrounding the resilience of the human body, its capacity to heal itself, adapt to change, and endure extremes, all the while storing a kinetic memory of its history deep within its flesh, not unlike how Clay itself stores the memory of its own handling. By combining ceramic forms, garment-making techniques, and hardware components, Giacomo makes work that interacts with the fluidity of gender, Queer bodily experiences, and human bodily experiences in general through sensory imagery and forms, and a physical association with the body.
